Sledding and such...

My nieces really wanted to go sledding today and there is a really good hill near their house. My younger sister was driving us all to the great sledding spot when the car decided it wanted in on the action. We were coming up to a two way stop when the car decided it would rather sled than stop. We slid along a "fun" patch of ice until another car got in the way. No one was hurt, just shaken a little. The cars looked a little worse for the day but not horrible.
I think the Universe was telling me to stay home....I did not listen. The kids still wanted to to go so we had my Sister-in-Law drive us to the hill (you didn't think I wanted to drive did you?). I was really fun and we some some good wipe-outs when I decided to go for one last run....to paraphrase Napoleon's (Dynamite) uncle, I think I broke my Coxix, that's most likely not spelled right.
I don't think it's actually broken but bruised is a word that comes to mind, ouchy!

Here's a picture of my sledding buddies

Sara my niece on the left, Mackenzie their friend in the middle and Bre my other niece on the right.

We are slightly bruised but it was fun, especially for my first sledding experience!!

Thanksgiving Dance

Kelsey's parents were nice enough to invite me to their home in Colorado for Thanksgiving. It was fun to be with a fun family for Thanksgiving especially since I couldn't be with my own. They made me feel included and everyone had a good time I think, except poor Catherine who was sick the whole time.
Here is a video...if it works...of Kelsey's kids rocking out to the Twilight soundtrack and "helping" with the puzzle the Gosney girls worked on all weekend.
One of the many fun times we had.

NKOTB

Guess what!! I went to the New Kids on the Block concert with my friends Amy, Ruth and Alexis on Saturday. It was AMAZING!! I know some of you are going to think I'm not cool as I used to be admitting I had a awsome time but I did. Around the middle of the concert the boys left the stage and came up in the center of the floor, did I mention we had floor seats?! Anyway they came up no more than 5 feet from our seats!! Amy and the others made it close to the point they came up, I think Amy said she was just a couple feet from them. I stood on a chair for most of the time they were there (I say most of the time because security didn't really appriciate that I was standing on the chair). Anyway the chair brought me up to eye level with the guys and I realize what an idiot I'm going to sound like when I say this but I totally made eye contact with Joey and Donny!!!

Anyway...here's some pictures Amy was able to take

This is when they first came out on stage

The Girls

Up close and personal (ok not really personal but you get it)

Yummy, yummy.....so close, darn security!!

Dang

Yes, that's David Archuletta, he was at the concert too.

Deep Cleansing Clay Mask

This is supposed to draw out the oils and make me have vibrant clean skin, what exactly does vibrant skin look like?

Much Better

My hand looks much better now. I realized much of the grossness was the marker the surgeon used to mark where to cut. (that gives me the creeps just thinking about it!) Here is a picture of how it looks now.

That's pretty much all I have for now. Although I was attacked my a huge spider today! I went to the bank for work to make a couple deposits and when the deposit slips came back I reached for the tube thing they come in and noticed on the edge of the contraption (whatever you call that thing) where the tubes come back was a huge black/gray spider. I was probably poisonous and I could have died. But I didn't.

Viewer Discretion Advised

I should be working right now but I wanted to post the post-bandage picture for all those who were interested. If no one is interested just don't tell me cause I like to think people are. It's less gross looking the more you look at it.

Also, as a side note, now that Amy has a boyfriend she likes to hang out with I'm more available for things such as helping eat other people's food, watching TV and/or movies, going places such as shopping (window mostly till the deductible is paid off), and babysitting. Any takers let me know.

Stitches Itch

Just in case you didn't know, stitches itch. It's not a good thing. Also, I'm not really all that smart sometimes (sometimes I'm a genius). I was wondering the other day why my fingers have almost back to normal range of motion but my thumb really doesn't. I can't put very much pressure on it or it kills. I'm such a dork, the surgeon cut the ligament (sp)!! That was the whole point of the surgery.
It's getting better but typing all day at work, which was a major contributor to need thing the the operation in the first place, puts pressure and therefore pain and itchyness in the incision. I should just not have to work. Anyone with ideas on how I can afford to not work please let me know.

ps. Is there a spell check on blogs?

I survived

I promised to post pictures of my bandaged hand so here you go. This is a short post because its hard to type with just one hand.

Back view

Front view

My fingers are a bit swollen but the surgeon said that would probably happen.

I have to thank my wonderful friends Kelsey and Amy for taking such good care of me, you guys are the best friends a girl could have!!

Surgery

I can never really spell that word right which means I shouldn't have to have it right? I guess not. I'm having Carpal Tunnel Surgery tomorrow morning. It's apparently a good one to start with if you've never had surgery before, at least according to the scheduling lady.
I'll post pictures of my bandaged hand so you all (whoever you all is) can feel sorry for me. My wonderful and amazing friend Kelsey is taking me to the clinic and is gonna babysit me after so I don't do anything weird. Who knows how the fun pain meds will effect me, last time I took anything stronger than Ibuprofen i couldn't stand up straight.
That's all for now. I'm writing this at work because there isn't anything to do right now and I figured if I was typing they'd think I was working on work stuff.

Thanks for Graduating!

Kelsey's sister Catherine graduated from High School and was down in Provo for General Conference so her sisters decided to have a Surprise Graduation Party for her. It was a fun excuse for everyone to get together while all the guys were at the Priesthood session. They decided to have 80s glamor shots, here's some of the fun photos.

Amy Rae....fur shure!!

Me in my 80's glory

Trying to be a rocker chick

Kelsey's Mom

Kelsey's dad thought she looked more like a Geisha than an 80's girl.......oh well.

Catherine and her friend Aimee

Elizabeth......I think she looks the most authentic

It was a fun night, we had pizza and cake and had lots of fun, thanks ladies for letting me be a part of it.

You wanna know what's not ok.....?

When you have bad heartburn so you when you get home from work you take some Tums hoping to feel better. You wait patiently for it to start working then not only do you have the bad heartburn you then feel super nauseated! :( It turns out that Tums has milk it in! In case you didn't know, milk and I, not such good friends.
I just had to share that with someone.

Y.......why not?

Amy had the great idea to hike the Y so that's how we spent our morning yesterday. When I read stuff about the hike I had read that it was an "easy" hike. What I want to know is compared to what?! It was a really great hike but it reminded me of how out of shape I am and oh yeah, the whole asthma thing. It feels great to have accomplished it, it was something that I've wanted to do as long as I've lived here.

If you think I look thrashed remember that I was climbing a mountain!

Amy looks less thrashed.....how did she do that?

This is the view from the top of the Y looking down.

This is me at the entrance to the hike, the picture was taken after we finished the hike.

The hike is 1.2 miles each way and 980 in elevation. Lets just say I'm glad I did it but I'm also glad it's over.

Cats

All I have to say is it's not all it's cracked up to be. Amy, Shawna and I went to Salt Lake tonight because Amy was told about some cheap tickets. Luckily the tickets weren't that much. It wasn't bad but it sure wasn't good.
That's all for now, it's late and I'm sleepy.

A Big Purchase

Guess who got a new (used) car!? Me! I got a 2004 Honda Civic. My cousin is a car salesman up in SLC and gave me the family discount so I got a good deal. My old car wasn't in horrible shape but it had seen better days (see previous post about accident). Here is a picture of me and my new car (it's a new dress too but that didn't cost near as much).

I've been tagged...

My friend Kelsey tagged me, which means I get to answer these fun questions:
1. My Name:
Kathleen Opal Palmer, Kathleen because my Mom liked it, Opal because it was my Grandma's name and Palmer because no one has married me yet.
2. Born:
I was born in Vancouver, Washington. August 4, 1974 at 12:07pm
3. Place I would like to visit:
Australia. I would love to see the country, plus I really love the accent
4. Favorite City:
I don't think I have a favorite city, I love where my family is but I can't really say Bremerton is my favorite city.
5. Bad Habit:
Eating out of boredom, lonelyness, happiness, worry....basically eating for any other reason than being hungry.
6. Favorite Animal:
Anything baby that is soft and cuddly.
7. Past love:
Unrequited
8. 1st job:
I worked at the Junior High my senior year of High School, for class credit and some pay, if you could call $4.15 per hour pay. It was really interesing when I had to take a doll around with me everywhere I went for a Psychology class. Junior High kids aren't the brightest kids
9.Another Place I want to visit:
Paris
10. Current Job:
Accounting/Reception/Data Entry for The Evolution Group, we are a financial seminar company.

Thanks Kels for picking me so I had a reason to write something. I'm gonna tag Deon Christensen because she posts even less often than I do!

A little aside for all my overconfidant friends like me, if you think that you don't need to turn the lights on when you're going down the stairs because you know your house and you know how to walk down stairs, you are probably wrong. I was carrying two glass glasses (one half full of orange juice) down the stairs and missed the last one. I ended up in a heap at the bottom of the stairs and covered in orange juice. Luckily I didn't get sliced on the glass. It's nice to know that I have good friends to look after me though. Amy came running down the stairs to be sure I wasn't dead and Ben came over from next door to be sure I wasn't being murdered. All in all it was an exciting evening.

Build-a-Bear

Patti and I were sitting at my house last night trying to figure what we wanted to do that night and what we wanted for dinner. Amy was at a scholar's birthday party. Patti thought it was funny that a student would invite the teacher to a party but she's just that kind of teacher. I said something like "she even got to go to a Build-a-Bear party once. We looked at each other and it was decided. It was also a good excuse to go to dinner at The Spaghetti Factory, yummy!!
Here are pictures of our creations

This is Patti's new elephant, her name is Empadure......I love the outfit, I'd totally wear it.

This is my bear, her name is Pinkie, I know, not very imaginative but you have to name it right there and there wasn't a lot of time. She has pink undertones under her white fur and I happen to love pink so there you go. And yes, she is wearing heals, and cute tiny pink panties, I couldn't resist.

Good Gravy

I was thinking last night that I needed to do something interesting or have something interesting happen to me so I could blog about it......see what I go through for you people......

I was sitting at the darn new stop-lights that they put on the entrances to the freeway waiting patiently for it to turn green when I guess the girl behind me didn't realize I wasn't moving so she just kept going, ouch. My shoulder hurts and I think I jammed my carpel tunnel wrist into the steering wheel because that hurts more than before. The above picture shows the pretty dent she put in my car.

This one shows that my trunk wont close all the way any more. We didn't call the police because this has never happend to me before and I didn't really think about it and we were on the entrance to the freeway and people were staring. I got her info and once I got home I reported the accident to my insurance.

Cards and flowers can be accepted at my place of residence.

On a happier note here is a picture of my bed with the wonderful present Mom and Dad got me, isn't it pretty!?!?

If I wear it (maybe) they will come

When my parents were visiting last week I went up to meet them at my Aunt's house in Murray and she and my Mom were going through a box full of their Mother's old things, this veil was in there and they weren't sure who's it was but I thought it would be funny take a couple pictures in it so here you go......

Here is one where my Mom is living vicariously (sp) through Kelsey's adorable babies....I'm working on it Mom, I promise....

How did we not take any pictures of Dad while he was here?

Happy Birthday to me!!

It was/is my birthday today and it was great. My boss let me go home early from work and we (Amy and my parents and I) had a fun BBQ with Kelsey, Ben, and kids, Lizzie, Catherine, Carrie, & Gabe. It looked like Amy and Kelsey and I'm not sure who else (except I know Catherine made a gorgeous cake) went to a lot of trouble. Everything tasted great and I got lots of great presents. I'm excited to read all the books I got and all the DVD's. I got a really pretty mesh drape/cover thing for my bed, I'll post pictures when I take some. Here's some of the B-Day celebration.

Dang, look at all those candles!!
Charlie loves my presents too!

Alert the firemen, there's a bonfire!

Parental Units

WooHoo, my parents are in town!! They are on a road trip from Washington and will end up in Oregon but have gone to Idaho and Utah in between to visit family and I'm lucky enough to get a stop on the trip. They got here Friday evening after staying with Mom's sister in Murray, UT. I love having them here and we've been shopping running around all day today. We started off at the farmers market and got some Tomatoes and I found a good present for Patti's Birthday there next month. We also tried some Lavender Lemonade, not my favorite but Mom and Dad seemed to like it. Then we ran around to Emergency Essentials and Deseret Book and the Distribution center, all those fun places they don't have in WA.
Amy thought about coming with us but was having trouble getting away from Breaking Dawn (it's a book, if you don't know about it you've probably been living on the moon for the last few months!).
I'll update with pictures tomorrow, I didn't put on make-up today and I don't want you all to have to endure that!

Pictures

Ok, I got the pictures of the blood on the sidewalk and also some from our trip to the lake/river earlier today. It was fun, crazy hot but fun.

As you can see from the picture Charlie wasn't much of a fan of the boat.

It looks kinda pink now but it was red before!!

That's my scared face!

Da Da Dum.....

That's supposed to sound dramatic, not sure if it works or not. I write to you today from Fruita, Colorado! Kelsey was nice enough to invite me along to visit her family there/here. It's been fun so far and it sounds like we're gonna go boating today, I'm excited!

GUESS WHAT!!?? I was very nearly murdered the other night! Ok, not really but almost. Kelsey, Lizzie and I walked out the front door about 10:30 at night to go get treats for our road trip and when we walked out I noticed a Sherrif's van in the driveway! The first thing he said was to ask if we had a hose because he wanted to wash the blood of our driveway! WHAT?! Apparently two drunk guys thought our front yard was a great place to have a fight! The worst part is we didn't hear a thing! Amy was at home in our half of the house and said she thought it was Ben (Kelsey's husband) and Devon (Kelsey's brother) being wierd.
Don't worry we took pictures of the blood-stain, they are however on Kelsey's camara and I don't know if she's awake yet. It's about 8:30 Saturday morning and I wish I wasn't awake yet but I am so there you go. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them off her camara.
PS. Don't worry Mom, I'm sure I'm safe where I live, I lock the dead-bolt even when I'm home.

Yuck-O but neccesary

You should all be so proud, I made an appointment with the Dr today because I'm pretty sure I have carpel tunnel or something like that and people keep telling me I need to get my wrist looked at and I also made a Dentist appointment (I'm pretty sure I have a cavity dag nab it!) If you know how much I hate the Dentist you would know what an amazing deal that is.
I should probably get back to work now as I'm at work and that's what I should be doing.

Friends are great!

So I was at Ben and Kelsey's again yesterday (I hope they aren't tired of me yet) and Ben came back inside from walking his sister and her family out and dropped the bomb that my tire was flat! I totally blame a certain friend for this because she just had a flat tire and my car is so sympathetic that it didn't want the other car to feel bad so it purposly drove over a nail. Ok so maybe I drove over the nail but the real culprit is whoever was trying to hang a picture in the middle of the road.....what were they thinking!? Anyway Ben is so nice that he changed my tire for me and Kelsey and Amy are so nice both of them offered to take it in for me tomorrow to get it fixed and Kelsey is even letting me use her van. I would use Amy's car but it's been approximately 13 years since I've driven a stick and I'm sure her car wouldn't be the same after the trip.
The wrap up is that I love my friends and I'm glad they are in my life, not just for stuff they do for me but because they are wonderful people and make my life better.
